Bloom
The 12th Bloom festival takes place in Phoenix Park from Thursday, May 31 to Monday, June 4. Now in its 12th year, this massive family festival provides a great day out for those interested in gardening, crafts, design, food, fun and fashion.

Just be yourself
Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane presents ‘Just be Yourself!’ an exhibition by Scottish artist Rachel Maclean who uses satire to critique consumer desire and power dynamics.
Rachel represented Scotland at the Venice Biennale in 2017 with the video ‘Spite Your Face’ which is included in the exhibition. The exhibition opens on May 30 and runs until September 16.
Howth Wave Regatta
Howth will be showcased over the bank holiday weekend (June 1-3) with a spectacular maritime event organised by Howth Yacht Club.
Three days of racing between Ireland’s Eye and Lambay Island for the inaugural Howth Wave Regatta has attracted many of the top racing boats from around Ireland and overseas and as many as 1,000 competitors are expected to take part. For more information, visit WaveRegatta.com
Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon
Over 35,000 women are expected to walk, jog and run in the 2018 Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon on Sunday, June 3, starting at 2pm.
The 10K route starts at Fitzwilliam Square and finishes on Baggot Street, and the ladies, who have been training hard over the last few months would welcome support for this special event in the athletics calendar.
Big winners on the day will be the charities as well as the participants.
Tall Ships Regatta
The Tall Ships Regatta sails into Dublin Port from Friday, June 1 to Monday, June 4.
Organised by Sail Training International, the stopover in Dublin is hosted by Dublin City Council & Dublin Port Company. This year, the Regatta features seventeen ships racing from Liverpool to Dublin. They will then continue on to the historic Bay of Biscay, finishing up in Bordeaux, France.
Over the June Bank Holiday weekend, the smaller ships can be viewed in Grand Canal Dock and the larger ones will be berthed on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay. The public are welcome to visit some of the ships on Saturday and Sunday.
Friday night soccer
League of Ireland action this Friday night (June 1) takes place in Tallaght where Shamrock Rovers take on title chasers Dundalk. A trip out to Bray will be rewarded with the clash between Wanderers and St Pat’s. There’s First Division Friday night action in Tolka Park were Shels will be expecting three points from Wexford while UCD are at home against Cobh Ramblers. There’s more soccer on Bank Holiday Monday when Cabinteely take on Athlone Town at 3pm while Shels play host to Drogheda United at 5pm.
Living History Tours
Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre has announced that its brilliant Living History Tours are returning for the summer months. The Living History Tour is the perfect activity to do with the family this summer and to learn about the history of Dalkey.
Professional actors who are dressed in full costume from the era, tell stories and interact with you as you visit the castle. The Living History Tour takes place every day except Tuesday. Drop in tours are €9.50 for an adult and €7.50 for a child under 12. A family ticket (two adults and two children) is €25. Fully guided group tours are also available.
Sundays at Noon
Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane’s Sundays@noon concert series on June 3 features Irish flautist Aisling Agnew and Scottish guitarist Matthew McAllister presenting works by Irish composers John Buckley and Greg Caffrey alongside major works by Astor Piazzolla, Pietro Locatelli and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Aisling and Matthew have enjoyed many high profile concerts including festivals in Germany, Switzerland, Sicily, Bosnia & Herzegovina, the Czech Republic and National Flute Association 40th International Convention in Las Vegas.
Summer concert
Ceiliuradh Choir’s summer concert on May 31 takes place in St Mary's Church, Angelsea Road, Ballsbridge, at 8pm. Guest soloists Grainne Logue and Eilis Dexter will join the choir in a performance of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. Local organist and member of the choir John Shera will perform an organ sonata by Vivaldi. Tickets are €12 euro, concessions €10 and students €5 The concert is followed by a wine reception.
