Living a Wild Life
Multi award wining nature and wildlife cinematographer Colin Stafford Johnson will visit Axis Ballymun on Thursday, November 16 as part of his Living a Wild Life nationwide tour.
With over 30 years experience, Colin’s in depth understanding and appreciation of wildlife here in Ireland, and in the most remote parts of the world, make him a leading wildlife expert.
Colin has lived with wildlife first hand from filming tigers at close range in India to touring Ireland in his camper van.
He’ll be providing insights into his most special wildlife encounters both close to home and abroad in what promises to be a spellbinding evening.

Mojo Rising
Mojo, the male mental health collective, is hosting a show featuring Irelands biggest and best talent who’ll be supporting men facing mental health challenges.
The festival style event will feature music, comedy, spoken word, dance and DJs.
Acts include Paddy Casey, Emmet Kirwan, Lord of Strut, Gaff E, Mother DJs, Nialler 9, Attention Bébé, Sally Cinnamon, Mike Bartlett, Eamonn Barrett, Joanne McNally and Stephen James Smith.
Mojo Rising is happening at the Grand Social on November 19. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are €15 or €10 for students, however as this is an inclusive event, there is an option to ‘pay what you can’, be it €2 or €5 by donating that amount on the Eventbrite page.
In the Name of Peace: John Hume in America
Maurice Fitzpatrick’s documentary film ‘In the Name of Peace: John Hume in America’ will be released in select IMC Cinemas nationwide for a limited time only on November 17.
Narrated by Liam Neeson with an original musical score by Bill Whelan (Riverdance), this 90 minute documentary includes compelling footage from the conflict in Northern Ireland and interviews with former Presidents, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, Prime Ministers Tony Blair and John Major personal accounts from Bono, Bertie Ahern and Enda Kenny, discussing Hume’s vital role as one of the key figures of the historic peace process.

Malahide Exhibition
‘The Magic of Iceland’, a photography exhibition by Tanya Crosbie, opened on November 10 at St Sylvester’s Parish Centre, Malahide, and runs until November 16.

Clontarf Book Fair
The Holy Faith Clontarf Parents’ Association’s fundraising Book Fair will take place in the school hall, Belgrove Road, on Friday, November 17 from 7-9pm; Saturday, November 18, from 10am to 2pm; and Sunday, November 19, from 10am to 2pm.
Should you have any books/CDs or DVDs in good condition that you would like to donate to the fair, they can be left in to the school any weekday, up until November 17, between 9am and 7pm.
Christmas tree lighting
DB Sound Collective will be playing at the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Market in Raheny Village this Sunday, November 19.
A marching band will kick off proceedings from 3.30pm. Hosted by Today FM’s Ian Dempsey, the event promises to be a great day out for all ages and will include Christmas stalls, festive food, mulled wine, face painting and lots more.
Harbour Lights
Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company is hosting a Bicentenary literary celebration on November 23. Local authors Bernard Farrell, Julie Parsons and Declan Hughes, will join local historian Rob Goodbody for a free literary evening.
The authors will read and discuss their work, significant parts of which are set in the town of Dun Laoghaire. Speakers will discuss their work and the ways in which it has been nourished by a sense of place and local context with moderator and local historian Rob Goodbody.
Guests will be invited to take part in Q&A session at the end of the event. It takes place in the Dun Laoghaire Ferry Terminal Building at 7.30pm. Book early and reserve a space by emailing info@dlharbour.ie.
Science Week
The people of Dublin are being asked to #StopAndAsk questions about the world around them as part of Science Foundation Ireland’s national Science Week 2017.
Taking place from November 12 to 19, Science Week provides people across the county with the opportunity to ask question, explore the science in their everyday lives and discover how science explains the world around us.
During the week, a programme of public engagement events, open days, science talks, workshops and shows will take place across Dublin.
