Pet Expo
Dublin’s Family Pet Expo at The National Show Centre in Swords on November 4 & 5 is an event not to be missed by all pet lovers and pet owners.
As well as everything you wanted to know about dogs, cats, rabbits and budgies, visitors can expect to be wowed by various and rare species of hawks, eagles, owls and falcons.
There’s also a fun dog show with celebrity judges and a petting farm where the little ‘uns can meet Flopsy and Mopsy the bunnies and Billy and Sid the kids.
Expert dog breeders will also be on hand to provide first-hand advice on over 50 breeds and the National Reptile Zoo will have snakes, freshwater turtles and even one of the smallest species of crocodile.

Medal Society open day
The Medal Society of Ireland is holding an open day on Saturday, November 4 from 12am to 4pm at Knox Hall, Monkstown Village, Co Dublin. FAI Cup Final
The curtain comes down on the League of Ireland for another season and the final match is a cracker at 3.30pm in the Aviva Stadium on Sunday, November 5.
Champions Cork City take on runners-up Dundalk in the winner-takes-all clash between Ireland’s top two teams. It’s the third cup final in a row between the two teams and with one win apiece, it’ll be the best out of three for the winner.
It should be a game that provides plenty of drama and it’ll also be a chance to whet the soccer appetite, as the following week is Ireland’s crucial play-off decider against Denmark.
Brazil in Colours
The Tres Brazilian Cultural Centre, in association with curator Tony Strickland, presents ‘Brazil in Colours’ – a collection of oeuvres by Cláudia Coutinho, at the Athena Room@Sol Art (First floor, 8 Dawson Street) in her first solo exhibition in Ireland.
Working in an Abstract Expressionist style, Cláudia gives flow to the unconscious and explores her freedom of expression.
The exhibition takes placer from Friday, November 3 to Thursday, November 9 from 12noon to 5.30pm.
Drama at The Helix
Stage2theatrecompany, based in Malahide, will stage an Agatha Christie murder mystery at The Helix, DCU this month.
‘And then there were none’ is widely considered to be her masterpiece and remains one of the top-selling crime novels of all time.

Eclipse Stage School show
The award-winning Eclipse Stage School, based in Kilbarrack, will hold their 10th anniversary show at the O'Reilly Theatre, Belvedere College, on November 3.
The school recently released a charity single (‘I Lived’) to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

Strutting and Fretting
On the last night of a spectacularly unsuccessful tour of Macbeth, the lead actor sits in his dressing room and muses on the pitfalls of the theatrical life.
Balancing his own disappointments with a fervent appreciation of Shakespeare’s genius, he also touches on such topics as the death of Leon Trotsky, the rise of Taylor Swift, the indispensability of stage managers and sex with the Wimbledon champion.
‘Strutting and Fretting’ is a hilarious and thought-provoking new comedy from the wicked pen of Chris McHallem, who has written extensively for stage, TV, film and radio. He is also well known as an actor and has worked with the RSC, The Royal National Theatre, The Gate and The Abbey as well as numerous film and TV appearances including a popular stint on the BBC’s EastEnders.

King Lear
The Gaiety School of Acting will bring King Lear to its first audience of Leaving Cert students at Smock Alley Theatre, Dublin for two runs from November 6 to 10 and from November 27 to December 1.
Staged in the traditional Elizabethan style, and directed with a modern dynamism by Martin Maguire, the cast of King Lear is comprised of graduates of the Gaiety School of Acting, the same Alma Mater as prominent Irish actors Aidan Turner, Colin Farrell, Sarah Greene and Charlie Murphy to name but a few.
