AFTER selling out their 3Arena show on November 7, Picture This have added a second date due to overwhelming demand.
The lads will now headline Dublin’s 3Arena on November 7 and 8 with tickets available to purchase now from Ticketmaster for their second gig.
Picture This grabbed the attention of Ireland when an iphone video of their track
‘Take My Hand’ went viral.
A subsequent gig in the Grand Social was upgraded to The Academy as demand was so fierce and Picture This became a force to be reckoned with.
Fast forward two years and the band have a numner one gold selling EP
?? which is still in the charts after 40 weeks.
More than 30,000 tickets have been sold in Ireland alone and they played a second headline slot behind Stormzy at the Longitude Festival in July.
Hailing from Athy, Co Kildare, Jimmy Rainsford and Ryan Hennessy joined forces at the end of October 2015.
Upon hearing Ryan’s unique voice after spotting him performing in local pubs and venues, Jimmy invited Ryan to join him in his studio to record some tracks.
After quickly hitting it off the duo decided to make the partnership more permanent and Picture This was born.
It all started when Ryan Hennessy recorded a sample of the song
‘Take My Hand’ on his iPh-one, which he and Rainsford later recorded in studio.
The video was uploaded to Facebook and Youtube and has amassed over 1.2 million views across all platforms.
After the duo’s debut gig was moved to The Academy to meet demand, they announced a 20-date tour of Ireland in Spring 2016.Â
The tour began in Leixlip on June 4 and culminated with three dates at the Olympia, a 1,600 capacity venue in November.
After relocating to a different venue,
‘Picture This’ managed to sell out The Academy in Dublin for their debut gig, making them the first band ever to achieve this.
In July, the band announced that they would be releasing their debut EP on August 12.
Having completed their tour of Ireland, Hennessy and Rainsford announced the release of their debut EP.
Taking a DIY approach, the duo self-produced and recorded the songs at Rainsford’s home studio.
The self-titled, five-track collection, which includes
‘Take My Hand’, which debuted at number one on the Irish Albums Chart.
Aside from making music and shooting ridiculously slick videos, Picture This also developed a
‘Traffic Jam’ series where they perform with various artists in their car.
So far, they have had Gavin James, The Coronas, Christy Dignam, Ryan Sheridan and most recently none other than JP Cooper getting involved.
Expect to hear a lot more from them in the coming months.
