Africa Day

Irish Aid’s flagship Africa Day event will take place in the grounds of Farmleigh Estate in Phoenix Park this Sunday, May 21. 

The free event, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, will run from 11am to 6pm. It will feature free public performances by well-known African and Irish musicians, children’s entertainment, traditional African drumming and dance workshops and cultural performances.
Dublin Bus will provide a free shuttle-bus service from the Heuston Bridge/Parkgate Street bus stop into the Phoenix Park from 11am to 6pm. Africa Day visitors are asked to leave their cars at home. 

 

Ring of Hope

A Ring of Hope Concert promises great entertainment at 8pm this Sunday, May 21, at Our Lady of Consolation Church, Donnycarney.

All proceeds are in aid of Brother Kevin’s Capuchin Day Centre for the Homeless. Tickets cost €10, contact Harry Browne on 086-2133399 or Fr John Ennis on 086-3027430.
The concert will feature the Kells Silver Band, the Garda Male Voice Choir, Antoinette Heery, 4 in a Bar Barbershop Quartet and the High Hopes Choir.

Maytime Miscellany

Third Day Chorale presents Maytime Miscellany at 8pm on Wednesday, May 17 at the Church of the Resurrection, Bayside, Sutton.

Forest Friends Biodiversity Week

Forest Friends is hosting a series of Biodiversity Week Events from May 20-26. 

This new project consists of discovering the biodiversity of Ireland to the local populations as well as numerous tourists throughout various activities.
The programme includes ‘Worlds Apart’ – a walk and study of the biodiversity of Clonliffe Road and Ballybough on Saturday, May 20 and a conducted walk and assessment estimating the ecological footprint of Croke Park on Sunday, May 21. Both events start at 11am in the SmallChallenges Wholefoods Store in the Arts and Business Campus, 40 Lower Drumcondra Road.

Yestival!

On the second anniversary of Ireland saying YES to marriage equality, Mother and THISISPOPBABY are joining forces to throw the mother of all birthday parties. 

Yestival is a night of live music, DJs and stellar performances from a host of acts including Peaches, Rubberbandits and Panti. It’s happening at Tivoli Theatre on Friday, May 19 and tickets cost from €18-26.

Battle For The Bay

This is an entertaining weekend for all the family where audiences are enthralled, entertained and captivated by kite surfers from across the world as they weave across the glittering bay at this year’s Battle For The Bay Watersport Festival on Dollymount Strand. 

The concept is very simple: Fun, wind, water…and more fun!!! Free entry.

DLR Go For Life Games Blitz  

Pre-registration for an essential new activity event for older adults is necessary by May 19 for the May 24 DLR Go For Life Games Blitz in dlr Leisure Loughlinstown.

The Blitz will be a fun morning based on the three activities in the National Go For Life Games – Lobbers, Flisk and Scidils – the aim of which is to involve older people in recreational sport.
This event is open to anyone over the age of 55 living in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown area. An application form is available by calling 01-2719502 for any queries and those who would like to sign up.
