Dancing at Lughnasa
If you like a bit of theatre, an old favourite is being staged on the Northside this week.
Riverside Drama Circle presents the award winning play, ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’, by Brian Friel on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, April 26, 27 and 28, at St Brigid’s Boys’ National School, Howth Road, Killester at 8pm nightly.

Art exhibition
Prospect Art Group is holding its annual exhibition of paintings in Red Stables, St Anne’s Park, Raheny, from Monday, April 24 to Sunday, April 30 from 10.30am to 5.30pm daily. Free admission.
James Joyce walking tours
The James Joyce Centre conducts walking tours of the city based on Joyce’s life and work.
During the spring/summer season these tours will be running three times a week and during the autumn/winter season they run one tour a week on a Saturday.

The Old Dublin Society
The Old Dublin Society, the local history society for Dublin city and county, will host a lecture on Wednesday, April 26 by Michael Fewer on ‘The Life and Times of JB Malone’. Malone was the founder of The Wicklow Way, a map-maker, soldier, historian and author. The talk will take place at 6pm in the Conference Room, Dublin City & Archive, 138 – 144, Pearse Street, Dublin 2. Admission free – all welcome.
Alzheimer Society of Ireland Tea Day
RTÉ star, Dáithí Ó Sé, enjoys afternoon tea with reigning Miss Ireland Niamh Kennedy on board the Vintage Tea Tour Bus in Dublin to mark the launch of Alzheimer Tea Day which is held on May 4. This is the largest annual fundraising campaign in The Alzheimer Society of Ireland’s calendar. Every year thousands of people host tea parties in their homes, offices and schools. Noise Moves Youth Dance Festival
The Noise Moves youth dance festival held annually at the Civic Theatre, Tallaght will host open dance performers aged from 13-25 who will showcase different genres of dance on Sunday, April 30.
Initiated in 2010, Noise Moves offers a professional venue and resources to local and regional dance groups to connect the youth dance community. Local and regional youth dance ensembles will come together for one night to showcase a variety of dance genres. Tickets are €7 and €5 for groups for four. The Ball
This is a multi-genre student-only music festival, headlined by award-winning Irish artist Gavin James taking place in the grounds of the former HSS Ferry Terminal in Dun Laoghaire Harbour on Friday, April 28 from 3-11pm
Also on the bill is Dutch DJ & producer Bakermat, Austrian electronic duo Klangkarussell, Route 94, Waze & Odyssey, Hare Squead, Irish favourite Mark McCabe, ‘90s pop act Smash Hits and some of Ireland’s emerging young talent including singer/songwriter Soulé as well as UCD Battle of the Bands winners, Future Stops.
The seaside festival will feature two stages, a fun fair and some of Dublin’s top student eateries including Box Burger, Aungier Danger, Boojum and summer staple, Teddy’s Ice Cream.

Dead Interesting Tour
Glasnevin Cemetery is now running a ‘Dead Interesting’ tour that brings the forgotten stories of Ireland’s lesser-known characters back to life.
The 90-minute walk around the graves, architecture, stone carvings and nature of the historic site is aimed at both newcomers to Glasnevin and those who’ve been on the regular tour before.
The tour starts at 1pm and costs €10 for students and seniors and €13 for adults. It can be booked online or at the museum and runs daily.
The Wolf & Peter
CoisCéim Dance Theatre are a multi award-winning dance company who have choreographed opening ceremonies for Special Olympics and ‘The Wolf & Peter’ will be the company’s first time staging a show aimed at youngsters.
CoisCéim have turned the original story of Peter & the Wolf upside down and in this case, tells the story through the eyes of the wolf. This, the company’s first ever production for children and families, performs at 13 Irish venues including Draiocht Theatre on April 27 at 7pm and April 28 at 10am and 12noon.
