Beckett in Foxrock
Darkly funny but with brilliant humour, ‘The End’ by Samuel Beckett, will be performed in Tullow Church, Foxrock by well-known actor Marcus Lamb on Saturday, March 25. This will be a special, limited capacity event in a unique location inextricably linked with one of Ireland’s greatest writers.
Tickets at €25 are on sale via Eventbrite.ie (search for Beckett in Foxrock 2017) and include a wine reception and an exhibition depicting Beckett and Foxrock. Beckett in Foxrock is the second annual event honouring the writer’s connection with the area. Samuel Beckett, Nobel Laureate, was born and brought up in Foxrock and was a regular attender, along with his mother, at Tullow Church. A commemorative plaque was unveiled by Beckett’s niece in 2016.
Pete Best of the Beatles
The stage play ‘Pete Best of the Beatles’ is returning for four performances at The Complex (just off Capel Street) from March 29 until April 1.
Pete Best was drummer with The Beatles for two years in the early 1960s. He played hundreds of shows with John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison – and then was mysteriously kicked out of the band a few short weeks before they released their debut single (‘Love Me Do’) and went on to take over the world.
This is the first stage play ever written about Pete Best and it examines the mystery of Pete’s sacking from the band – and presents a fascinating insight into the early days of The Beatles and their wild nights in Liverpool and Hamburg.
