Aladdin at the Clasac

Benefit concert

There are two benefit concerts in support of homelessness campaign group Home Sweet Home taking place at Sin É, Bar & Music Venue on Ormond Quay this weekend on Friday and Saturday, January 20 and 21.

On Friday acts include The Eskies and Farah Elle while Saturday’s line up features Barq, The Hot Sprockets, Grand and Moon Looks on.

The music starts from around 8.30pm and all proceeds from tickets priced at €15 and available from eventbrite.ie will go towards the Home Sweet Home Campaign.

 

Parkrun

Parkruns are a great way to get those new year resolutions to get fitter back on track. The free weekly runs take place on Saturdays at parks in Malahide, Cabinteely, Shanganah, Marlay, Raheny, Ballymun and Tallaght.

It’s a timed run over 5km so you can monitor progress and while participation is completely free, you’ll need to register at www.parkrun.ie first.

Venues include Malahide Park, Cabinteely Park, Shanganagh Park, Marlay Park, St Anne’s Park, Father Collins Park, Tymon Park and Poppintree Park.

Runs take place from 9.30am to 1pm and more details can be found on parkrun.ie.

 

My Favourites Walking Tour

The ‘My Favourites’ Dublin City Walk Tour offers a unique experience for Dubliners and tourists alike where they are given the opportunity to taste the diversity of arts and culture that currently exists in the capital.

 

The free tour takes in cafes, bars, markets, unusual stores, galleries, theatres, arts spaces, and more. It takes place on Tuesdays at 2pm, Thursdays at 7pm and Saturdays at 2pm. Meeting point is at The Spire on O’Connell Street and while it’s free, it would be rude not to give a donation at the end of the tour.

Seduction Duet

Dalkey Players are hosting their One Act Play ‘Seduction Duet’ in The Studio, dlr Lexicon on January 18 and 19 and this is their entry for the Bray Festival which will be staged on Friday, January 27. 

It is also a fundraiser for their Circuit Play so they are hoping for the maximum support possible from friends and followers.  Doors are at 8pm.

 

Bray Train & Model Collector’s Fair

The Train & Model Collector’s Fair on Sunday, January 22 features diecast/tin toys, models (vintage/modern), Dinky, Corgi, Matchbox, Oxford, and paints/kits/accessories etc.

It runs from 10am to 2pm in Bray Wheelers Clubhouse on the Schools Road, off the Boghal Road in Bray.

 

Wedfest

Non-traditional brides and grooms-to- be should head for the Chocolate Factory on King’s Inn Street on Sunday, January 22, where KBC WedFest 2017 is taking place.

The event is an alternative wedding festival, focused on creating the day you want outside of the traditional cookie-cutter template.

 

Aladdin at The Helix

TheatreworX Productions return to The Helix this Christmas for yet another panto success with their hilarious adaptation of Aladdin. 

Featuring a mystical genie, a flying carpet and an old lamp, a beautiful princess, irresistible baddies and an exotic trip to the Far East as well as the usual panto antics, it’s one of the best shows in Dublin.

Sleeping Beauty The Panto

A Pantomime for all the family, Sleeping Beauty is a classic fairy tale about a beautiful Princess, an enchanted spinning wheel and a handsome Prince.

The legend that transcends time begins with a christening, a jealous fairy called Magnificent and her evil spell at the Princess’s birthday party.

But there to help is Auntie Dolly Dollar, the Duchess of Dishwater and her ‘friends’!

This is a show full of fun, song, dance and romance all spun together in Coolmine Panto Group’s spectacular production.

It runs at Draoicht Blanchardstown until January 22. Tickets cost €20.
