LORD Mayor Brendan Carr has launched Dublin Fire Brigade’s Halloween safety campaign, ’Be Safe – Stay Safe’.
This campaign, which is run in conjunction with Dublin Bus, An Garda Siochána and the DSPCA, informs children and young people about the dangers of illegal bonfires and fireworks.
It is part of Dublin City Council’s Halloween Response Programme which includes a city-wide selection of family-friendly community events and a preventative programme of removing stockpiled bonfire materials.
Speaking at the launch, Cllr Carr said: “The council’s coordinated Halloween response means that people have the opportunity to enjoy the night safely at one of the many festivals organised in local communities.
“Bonfires are not only illegal, they are extremely dangerous and, together with fireworks, can cause a lot of injuries and damage.”
Dubliners, young and old, are being asked to do everything possible to stay safe this Halloween.
Dublin Fire Brigade has put together a special Halloween safety pack with leaflets and posters available online to all primary schools in Dublin, advising children how to act responsibly and avoid danger.
Dublin Fire Brigade has also made a video which is available to view at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH6cbyZGHjk
