TRACK RECORD WITH MATTHEW FROM THE ACADEMIC

1.    Most memorable moment in Dublin?

We have had a few memorable moments but headlining Vicar Street in March was incredible. We had only been on the road as a band proper just over 18 months so to have a sell out with our first headline show there will always stay with us.

2. First album you bought and last album you bought?

The first album I was given was Thin Lizzy’s ‘Live and Dangerous’. The last album I bought was a vinyl copy of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Nebraska’.

3. When you’re not playing music, what else do you do?

We are travelling quite a bit at the minute on tour so we have a good stockpile of movies on the bus to watch. We all like our football too and try to get out for a kick about now and again.

4. Who are your influences?

It’s a question that gets asked a lot and while we all have different influences collectively we listened to a lot of guitar bands growing up, bands like The Cars, U2, and The Strokes would have had a big influence on us and our sound.

5. Who would make up your ideal band with you as lead singer?

Prince, Paul McCartney and Max Weinberg!

6. Any tips on life?

Live it and love it! Follow your dreams and have no regrets.

7. First person you’d invite to your party?

Nicholas Cage.

8. Last person you’d invite to your party?

‘That’ guy who played ‘Wonderwall’ on guitar.
