TRACK RECORD WITH BILLY McGUINNESS FROM ASLAN
1.Most Memorable Moment in Dublin?
The 1988 Millenium gig in the Ilac car park. Brian Downey from Thin Lizzy joined us on drums for a song about Philo called ‘Let Loose in Heaven’. Great gig and a great day.
2.First album you bought?
The first album I bought was ‘Slayed’ by Slade. Noddy Holder had a voice like a fog horn. Great band.
3. When you’re not playing music, what else do you do?
Spend time chilling with the family or going to see other bands giging.
4.Who are your influences?
David Bowie was a big influence on me. The Ziggy Stardust album is still one of my favourites and the fact that Aslan got to support him in Slane is still a highlight for me.
5. Who would make up your idea band?
I have my ideal band! Alan Downey on drums, Joe Jewell on guitar, Rod O Brien on bass and Christy Dignam on vocals. The fact that this is our 34th year together tells me Aslan are my ideal band.
6. Any tips on life?
Your health is your wealth. Don’t stress out about anything else and enjoy what you have. You’ll be a long time dead.
7. First person you’d invite to your party?
My late grandmother Brenda McGuinness. She was the life and soul of any party and she is sadly missed.
8. Last person you’d invite to your party?
Linda Martin
