THIS December, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre will host the European premiere of ‘Big: The Musical’.
The show will open on December 7 and will have a strictly limited season ending on January 7.
Irish audiences will be the first to have the opportunity to witness this spectacular musical before it opens in London’s West End next year.
Tickets from €15 – €65 are on sale now with preview performances running from December 7 to 12.
Brought to Ireland for the first time by producer Michael Rose, who has had multiple previous successes at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre with productions such as ‘White Christmas’, ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ and ‘Elf, The Musical’, ‘Big The Musical’ is set to thrill Irish audiences for the festive season.

“It’s a universally appealing story peppered with beautiful songs, stunning sets, tremendous choreography and an all-star cast – it couldn’t get much bigger than this for Christmas.”
Always a hotly anticipated announcement in the entertainment calendar, the big announcement of Bord Gais Energy Theatre’s spectacular Christmas Show was exclusively revealed at a launch event last week, which saw the theatre transformed to replicate iconic scenes from the much loved Tom Hanks movie.
Stephen Faloon, General Manager of Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, added: “We couldn’t be more excited to host the European premiere of ‘Big The Musical.
“It follows a long line of great productions we have hosted over the years during the festive season, and year on year we try to offer a unique event in the entertainment calendar. It is definitely going to be a ‘Big’ ticket this Christmas.”
Big, the heart-warming and hilarious Broadway musical based on the classic movie starring Tom Hanks, tells the story of Josh Baskin, a 12-year-old boy who hates being little, until one night at the carnival the mysterious Zoltar machine grants his wish to be big.
Trapped in an adult’s body and alone in New York, he innocently tries to find his way around a grown-up world where it’s all work and no play.
But while everyone around him tries to act their age, Josh just can’t help being himself.
Featuring an all-star cast led by The Wanted singer and Strictly Come Dancing champion Jay McGuiness, Big is a joyous musical spectacular that will enchant audiences of all ages as it brilliantly brings to life the magic of one of the best-loved movies of all time.
