ST FINIAN’S GAA Club in Swords claimed the prize of the ‘Ultimate Dubs Fan’, a competition organised during last season by Ballygowan and Club Energise, proud hydration partners of Dublin GAA.
Part of the prize included a training session with Dublin GAA stars including Ryan O’Dwyer, Niall Corcoran and Paul Schutte from the hurling squad and Dean Rock, Kevin McManamon, James McCarthy and Michael Fitzsimons from the football squad.
In ideal playing conditions, members of St Finian’s GAA were put through their paces by the Dublin intercounty players at Parnell Park.
During the training session, the intercounty players explained the importance of hydration in terms of preparation, avoidance of injury and recovery with plenty of Ballygowan on hand for water breaks.
St Finian’s GAA Club member Eoin O’Connor, winner of the competition, said: “We’re very thankful to Ballygowan and Energise Sport for giving us the opportunity to be here today.
“It’s absolutely fantastic to have had this training with the Dublin players – these are the guys that we are watching all year round and the guys that we look up to.
“They went through a lot of the basic skills and highlighted the importance of constantly practising these and stressed the importance of drinking water in order to keep fit and avoid injuries and cramps during games. The lads also had a few nice insights that might hopefully give us a competition edge in the future.”
