THIS year’s Dublin Kite Festival got off to flyer when over 12,000 people made their way to Dollymount for a day of exhilarating fun.
This third annual festival, organised by Dublin City Council, attracted people from around the country, brandishing an array of kites ready to take to the skies and beautify the Dublin skyline with a jumble of colour.
There was free entertainment all day long ensuring that attendees enjoyed a carefree Sunday afternoon (June 14) reliving childhood memories of kite flying while having fun with friends and family.
Lord Mayor of Dublin Christy Burke said:
“Dublin Kite Festival is a wonderful event and I’m delighted it returned to one of my favourite spots in Dublin, Dollymount Strand, this year.
“Kite flying is one of those great family activities that is suitable for all ages, you don’t have to be a child or even a kite enthusiast to enjoy yourself.
