AS THE last of the Ballymun blocks come tumbling down, albeit slowly, calls are being made to hold an event to mark the conclusion of the flats demolition job.
The last remaining blocks at Balbutcher are due to be fully demolished by October and Ballymun Councillor Noel Rock (FG) is calling on Dublin City Council to commemorate the event.
“For thousands of families, including myself, the blocks were where we lived, grew up and spent a portion of our lives,
? he said.
“Now, as the final flats at Balbutcher Lane begin to come down, I think it would be appropriate to look at having a small event to commemorate this occasion.
?
Cllr Rock has written to council officials with a few ideas for an event.
“I just think the event is a bit too important to simply let quietly pass,
? he said.
