PUPILS from Scoil Mhuire Senior and Junior National Schools in Blakestown did their area proud recently when they got involved in a blooming great project.
The children took part in Project Greenshoots, an initiative that helped them learn about horticulture so they could then take part in a local planting and re-potting event.
The project was the brainchild of Blakestown Drive Community Group (BDCG) in Dublin 15 and the event was held in the fantastic Sensory Garden of the Daughters of Charity Day Care Centre.
Secretary of BDCG, Maria Tormey, said the event was a great success.
“We had a great day and the children were a credit to their school and community,
? she added.
“As part of BDCG’s Project Greenshoots we gave each child a
‘Greenshoots Passport’ and they will receive a sticker each time they do a green activity on behalf of the school, community and environment.
“This Project Greenshoots initiative has had a very positive impact on our community.
