Winnie’s Craft Cafe in Booterstown has recently celebrated its fourth birthday, selling all things knitting and crochet while also serving good food and coffee to local customers.

Now Energia is providing green power to the knitting, crocheting and beading specialists to make the café a little bit more eco friendly.

Owner Marina Hand said:

“Ours is a very colourful world, but we are particularly fond of green.

“We have a green roof collecting rainwater to flush our toilets. We have solar panels to help with our water and heating. Our wool-lined walls are like a jumper but we also have 10cm of insulation keeping us warm. When it came to fit-out, items like Dyson energy efficient hand dryers were also chosen.

In the day-to-day running of the business earth-choices are also made.

Recently Winnie’s Craft Cafe went with their first branded take-away cups and chose fully compostable cups printed with vegetable-based inks.

“Many of our food suppliers are local small businesses,

? Marina added.

“Winnie The Wool Wagon herself is very fuel efficient, as she gets around with the help of a 600cc diesel engine, so trips to the petrol station are very infrequent.

“This is why we are very happy to have green energy from Energia.

Energia currently supplies over one third of Irish shops with their energy

“We are delighted that Winnie’s Craft Cafe has chosen Energia as their renewable energy supplier,

? spokesperson Karen O’Brien said.
