TWO of Dublin’s largest family owned businesses have stepped up to help an 84-year-old Crumlin woman who was the victim of a cruel robbery.
Elizabeth Gannon was the winner of an iPad as part of a competition run by Greyhound Household.
However, just days after the prize was delivered, two men, posing as charity workers, called to her door.
When Elizabeth went to fetch her purse from the kitchen, the two men entered her front room. They left with the iPad and
?¬200 worth of Dunnes Stores vouchers she had saved over the previous 12 months as Christmas presents for her daughters.
But when they heard about Elizabeth’s plight, Greyhound Household along with Dunnes Stores replaced the stolen property which was presented to Elizabeth at her home in Cashel Road by Greyhound owner Michael Buckley.
Elizabeth, who recently underwent treatment for cataracts, said:
“I first thought an iPad was for my eyes.
“I am delighted to have the stolen goods replaced. I would like to thank Greyhound Household and Dunnes Stores for their kindness. This has made my week.
