A NORTHSIDE youth activist has urged Fingal County Council to repair a
“dangerous
? section of a road in his area.
Avid cyclist Cian Smart (13), from the Burrow, Portrane, believes the potholes on the short stretch of road at the green near
‘The Brook’ are dangerous because cyclists could hit the holes and fall off of their bicycle and injure themselves.
“Also, sharp stones situated around potholes may cause punctures to bicycles and motor vehicles,
? Cian told Northside People.
“I hope that the council will carry out repairs to this small stretch of road before a cyclist is injured.
?
Cian said cycling is currently very popular in north county Dublin and across the country.
“There is a need for more cycle paths, and for the roads to be made safe for cyclists,
? he added.
Cian’s local councillor, Paul Mulville (Ind), raised the matter at a local area meeting last week in Swords.
Cllr Mulville asked the council to carry out repair work to the road surface on the short stretch of road along one side of Portrane green, between the Burrow Road, and the turn off for the Brook Pub, on health and safety grounds.
The council said:
“The repair of the road at the location referred to in the question (from Cllr Mulville) will be included in the Area Engineers Maintenance Programme.
