LOCAL residents in the Cabinteely, Foxrock, and Cornelscourt areas have been urged to have their say regarding a proposed cycle and pedestrian greenway linking Cornelscourt to Cherrywood.
Cllr Deirdre Donnelly (Ind) said she had attended a Public Information Evening in Cabinteely Library on January 13.
“A number of people were there to hear what the representatives in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council had to say,
? Cllr Donnelly said.
Due to the interest in the proposed scheme, a second Public Information Evening was planned for the following week in St Brigid’s Girls’ National School.
This was organised by the Park Residents’ Association in conjunction with CADRA (Cabinteely & District Residents’ Association) and was attended by a large number of people.
Senior county council engineers and an executive from the Parks Department were in attendance and presented the proposal to the public.
Questions were taken from the floor and residents were given the opportunity to express their views on this project.
“It was after that when I began to receive a number of emails from residents, some of whom are opposed to the scheme
?, Cllr Donnelly added.
“Others had reservations about the certain aspects of it, for example in relation to privacy, the width of track, and so on. I have also received correspondence from members of the public who support this proposal.
“Cabinteely Park is a wonderful amenity used and enjoyed by so many people in the vicinity and further afield. I am therefore asking all concerned to make their views known on this proposed greenway before the consultation window closes on Friday, February 6.
