TWO talented Northside brothers put on a special performance for guests at the Royal Irish Academy of Music High Achiever Awards Gala held recently in Dublin.
Jack and Luke Nolan, from Malahide, aged 16 and 15 respectively, who performed a duet on the piano, were chosen to perform from 42,000 students who sit the local centre exams at the Royal Irish Academy of Music every year.
Students of Colma Brioscú at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, the brothers performed
‘Norwegian Dance No. 2’ by Edvard Grieg.
Jack also plays clarinet and organ while Luke studies the flute, and they both play guitar.
In recognising the huge commitment and personal investment students make to their musical and drama studies, the Awards and the Gala afford students the opportunity to experience the highs and lows of the
‘performance world’ by mirroring the preparation, atmosphere and surroundings experienced by professional artists who have chosen performance as a career.
Deborah Kelleher, Director of the Royal Irish Academy of Music, congratulated Jack and Luke and said they should be very proud of their performance.
“It was certainly a night to remember for the audience and, I hope it is an occasion that all the performers will remember with pride and cherish into the future,
? said Ms Kelleher.
Recognising the wealth of talent throughout the country, the academy established the High Achiever Awards in 2000.
The programme now includes a series of regional concerts and award ceremonies held each autumn at various locations throughout the country.
From these regional concerts, Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) senior examiners and local centre staff chose 11 outstanding performances for the Gala to showcase the crème de la crème of talent from around the country.
