New jobs boost for Northside

IN A week when figures showed that the unemployment rate had fallen to 10.7 per cent from a peak of 15.1 per cent in 2012, four local companies have announced that they are to create over 200 jobs between them.

Calypso Technology Inc. at the Custom House Plaza in the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) have announced 150 new jobs. In addition:

?¢ The City Bin Co will roll out 30 jobs before Christmas.

?¢ Nando’s in Santry is creating 28 full and part-time positions at its newest restaurant which opened in Omni Park Shopping Centre last week, and

?¢ Leading Irish IT consultancy firm, E-MIT Solutions, have announced 10 new jobs at its headquarters in Santry.

The jobs at Calypso Technology Inc. are being supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe, said every new job announcement is to be welcomed.

“It brings with it potential for those who are seeking employment as well as for those who are in search of new prospects and career development,

? he said.

However, despite the positive news, Minister Donohoe conceded that there were still too many people without work.

“This Government is committed to delivering an Ireland where people are incentivised to work, where work pays and where people’s standards of living are improved,

? he added.
