Lovely hurling from South Korean visitors in Clonsilla

The South Korean principals show their newly found hurling skills during the visit to St Philip's.

A SCHOOL in Clonsilla recently played host to a delegation of primary school principals from South Korea – and managed to show them how to play hurling!

St Philip’s Senior National School in Mountview welcomed the principals, from Gyeong-Nam, in the southern most part of South Korea, earlier this month.

The visitors were shown a wide range of educational and extra-curricular activities that take place in the local school.

And according to principal, Paula Dargan, they were very impressed with the school’s activities and approach to education.

St Philip’s is a multicultural school, a model that’s now becoming more common in South Korea.

The Korean principals visited various classes and observed teachers and pupils in action, before taking part in a hurling lesson with Ms Flynn’s 5th class.

They also met parents in the Parents’ Room, who were taking part in cooking classes.
Finally, they joined the entire staff in the staffroom for refreshments, where they were welcomed by the Chairperson of the Board of Management, Marion Hilliard.

Principal Dargan said the teachers were delighted to meet with their counterparts.

“It is always interesting to hear how the education system operates in other countries, and it was a great opportunity for us all to learn from each other. And yes, they did enjoy the hurling!
