AN ALLOCATION of
?¬50,000 granted in this year’s council budget to improve facilities in Finglas village could result in new libriary for the area.
The allocation will allow for a feasibility study to examine developing the existing library or to look at the possibility of building a new one.
The current library in Finglas village has limited wheelchair access and no toilet facilities for people with young children.
Welcoming the announcement, local Fianna Fail councillor, Paul McAuliffe, said the funding was
“very welcome
? given the poor conditions for families using the Finglas branch.
“I hope that this initial allocation will be followed in subsequent years with a larger allocation to ensure Finglas has an impressive and engaging library,
? he added.
“The library is at the heart of the community with events and exhibitions taking place there. We need to see more flexibility in a modern library, extra study rooms, exhibition spaces and computers.

Dublin City Council is currently reviewing all of the city’s libraries, with the Ballyfermot branch having recently received a full refurbishment.
