THERE was more good news on the Southside jobs front as CarTrawler revealed they were creating 400 new positions from their base in the Dundrum Business Park.
It follows the recent announcement in Tallaght that the go ahead granted to the
?¬40m expansion of the Square Shopping Centre would lead to the creation of 700 jobs. Deputy Olivia Mitchell (FG) described the announcement of the 400 new jobs by CarTrawler as
“fantastic
?.
“CarTrawler is an Irish grown company and the world’s leading car rental marketplace,
? she said.
“This reinforces their roots here as they expand their headquarters in Dundrum.
“These jobs are great news for Dundrum which is a terrific location and is very well serviced by excellent infrastructure, such as the Luas, the M50 and respected third level institutions. Deputy Mitchell added:
“Despite the improvement in the economy there is still a lot of unemployment on the Southside.
“These new high-end jobs are in the area of business development, customer operations, data science, finance and engineering.
“CarTrawler is hosting an Open Day on Saturday, October 18.
“I would encourage anyone interested in securing one of the new jobs to go along and check out the positions on offer.

In Tallaght the granting of full planning permission for a major extension to the well known Dublin shopping centre follows an original decision by South Dublin County Council in April to let the project go ahead.
The implementation of the
?¬40 million project is expected to create over 300 construction jobs and add 200,000sqft of retail space that will employ 400 new jobs on completion. A statement issued recently revealed that discussions have already started with a number of interested parties for the anchor and medium space retailer users.
The CEO of Indego, the holding company of the majority ownership at the Square, Bernard Hamill, welcomed An Bord Pleanala’s decision.
“This very welcome decision,
? he said.
“It is an immense vote of confidence in the future of the Square.
“The development provides for flexible large retail floor space that is currently lacking and a department store.
“The implementation of this proposal will see the Square Towncentre completely rejuvenated and it will ensure it becomes again one of the main shopping destinations of choice.
