BLUE September is part of an international campaign that aims to tackle the fact that men are more likely to develop and die of cancer than women.
It is also well known that men are less likely to discuss their personal health concerns with family, friends or their GP.
Blue September is a fun way of delivering the message that if more men took better care of their health, it could significantly reduce the numbers dying from cancer every year.
Last Friday around 200 doctors, nurses and staff at the Mater Hospital dressed in blue to mark the campaign. On the day, the staff provided information about men’s cancer and took part in a number of events.
