Local dancers represent Ireland in Vegas

LAST week was a momentous one for Northside dance club Fit Kids/Fit Teens as 28 of its members travelled to Las Vegas, USA, to represent Ireland in the World Hip Hop Championships 2014.

Adult crew Dy-Nasty and varsity group, Nasty by Nature, were battling it out with 45 other nations in an effort to become world champs of dance. Solo dancers, Matthew Williamson, Ashleigh Fox and Ian McDermott, also took part in the Breakdance section of the championships.

Rachel Donohoe and Ashling Murphy performed in the Locking section too while Darragh Rochford with Dean Kenny (both 12) along with Santino Santaro with Rachel Donohoe were aiming to triumph in the All Styles doubles section.

The Fit Kids/Fit Teens dancers recently performed on RTE’s ‘Saturday Night Show’ where they spoke about their passion and pride in representing their country.

Group founder Jacinta Cassidy praised the dancers’ focus and determination before they headed out to Vegas.

“The have worked non stop over the past six months to perform a wonderful routine on the world stage,

? she said.

“They are thrilled at this opportunity and will definitely do Ireland proud.

Jacinta also praised the wonderful choreographers from Raw Edge Crew – Sly Sode, Rachel Murphy and Ciara Moran – as well as the parents, friends, supporters and local businesses who helped make the journey possible.
