VARIETY the Children’s Charity hosted a very successful event at Howth Yacht Club recently.

The aim of the day was to provide a boating experience for children who have special needs and raise funds for their comfort and benefit.

Around 100 children (most with disabilities) and their families attended the

‘Boat For Hope 2014’ event, now in its third year. They went out onto the water in the harbour for a

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ themed battle with the big ship to try and get the treasure from the pirates, thanks to the skippers for providing their boats from Howth and surrounding areas. They returned to shore for a barbecue lunch and entertainment.

Oracle and their staff raised funds to purchase a wheelchair for a special girl, Naomi, and Sandra Kater, from Oracle Direct, presented it to her on the day.

Variety the Children’s Charity is a non-profit organisation dedicated to raising funds for children with special needs in Ireland for over 60 years.
