NORTHSIDE singer and songwriter, Rachael McCormack, has been snapped up by Universal Music just one year after releasing her debut album
‘This Is My Identity’.
The 30-year-old is well known on the city’s live music circuit where she’s been gigging around with her rock/pop powerhouse act.
The proud Ballymun local was recognised as one of the hardest working artists on the unsigned scene and believes her Northside roots have made her a better musician and more determined to fulfil her goals.
‘This Is My Identity’ was two years in the making with producer Paul Woodward and the album has performed well on iTunes, Spotify and XboxMusic, attracting widespread praise from top Irish music critics.
Rachel has graced the stage at Dublin’s Soul Festival and played the Ruby Sessions, Whelan’s, the Sugar Club and the Grand Social to name but a few venues and her new deal will gain her even more exposure.
Following the release of her album last year she appeared on TV3’s
‘The Morning Show’,
‘Storeroom Sessions’ by Hotpress Magazine, and Balcony TV in London.
She recently played support to Paddy Casey on his latest Irish tour and also supported X-Factor finalist Mary Byrne on her Irish tour. She has appeared at festivals throughout the country, and received over 75,000 hits on her Fandalism music page.
Rachael hopes that her new deal with Universal Music Publishing will progress her career, as both artist and a songwriter, to new heights. She has recently co-written an indie dance track for Irish Hip-hop artist Deanie, which will be released through Sony later this year.
She also plans to release her own third single during the summer.
