THE recently elected Lord Mayor of Dublin has vowed to continue in his role as an outreach volunteer for homeless on the streets of the capital.
Mayor Christy Burke has been a group leader on nightly runs for a number of months. He has stuck to his word and continued to support some of the city’s most vulnerable by attending food and clothing runs on Wednesday nights.
After speaking with Inner City Helping Homeless (ICHH), Mayor Burke said:
“Nothing changes. I have set out my mandate as Lord Mayor and will continue with my work of a Wednesday night providing food and clothing alongside the rest of the volunteers from Inner City Helping Homeless.
?
Anthony Flynn, director of ICHH, said they were honoured that the Lord Mayor has vowed to continue working with them.
“Christy has been a valued member of our organisation from our early days and chairs our board of management,
? said Mr Flynn.
“His work on the streets and behind the scenes at ICHH is invaluable.
“But as far as Christy and ourselves are concerned, nothing changes here. We have a job to do, a voluntary one at that, and we are all committed to ensuring we provide the best frontline service possible.
