Based in the Coolock Development Centre on Bunratty Drive, Change Community Garden is open to the public every Wednesday and Saturday from 10am to 1pm and features a range of communal raised beds growing a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers.

However garden coordinator, Linda Devlin, from Doras Bui, says you don’t need green fingers to get involved.

“Community gardening is about so much more than growing,

? says Linda.

“While that is a big part of it there are so many more aspects of being involved – people come to socialise and have fun, to reconnect with nature, for physical exercise and also the therapeutic effects.

“It has a real ripple effect and we are delighted to have an increasing number of families with young children frequent the garden each week.

New elected Fingal County Councillor David Healy (GP) officially launched the Change Community Garden.

Community workers, councillors and residents all gathered to celebrate the event.

The garden is a collaborative project led by Doras Buí and supported by Northside Partnership, Sphere 17 and Coolock Development Council.

Funding for the project has been provided through the Community Food Initiative Programme 2012-2015, which is funded by Safefood and managed by Healthy Food for All.

Change Community Garden is always looking for new volunteers. Anyone interested should contact Linda Devlin at Doras Buí on 01-8484811 or drop into the garden any Wednesday or Saturday from 10am-1pm.
