A LEADING charity is pleading with Northsiders to donate unwanted items to its charity shops on Lower Liffey Street and Capel Street as stock is running dangerously low.
Gorta’s shops rely totally on public donations to survive but is struggling to keep them stocked.
“We all have clothes or books at home that we don’t particularly need or want so what we’re doing is asking for you to donate that unwanted item to Gorta,
? said National Retail Manager, Maggie Dwyer.
“These unwanted items are incredibly important and valuable to us as it means we can keep our shops going and most importantly, keep funding our work overseas.
?
“In this challenging and competitive climate, it is now more important than ever for us to receive merchandise donations. Any items donated, no matter how big or small, are hugely appreciated.
“Even unwearable clothes can be donated as we have a very successful recycling programme.
“Our Dublin shops accept most things such as CDs, DVDs, books, clothes, jewellery and household goods. The only things we cannot take, due to health and safety reasons, are toys and electrical goods.
All profits from the shops go to Gorta’s work overseas and donations help the charity continue its work eliminating hunger and creating prosperity in communities in Africa.
“Please look honestly at those things piling up in your house and see if you really need them, because Gorta certainly does,
? Dwyer continued.
Items can be delivered to Gorta’s shops at 32 Lower Liffey Street and 136 Capel Street, Dublin 1.
