Deal signed for ‘green’ power at Northside park

AN energy provider has signed a deal to purchase electricity generated by five wind turbines at a Northside park.

Dublin City Council has made an agreement with Energia for the

‘green’ energy produced by Fr Collins Park in Donaghmede.

The 2.5 year

‘power purchase agreement’ deal will see Energia buy the excess electricity generated by the park’s five 50kW wind turbines from the local authority. It will then supply this renewable energy to homes and businesses across Ireland.

Energia’s Operational Windfarm Portfolio, which combines power from Energia’s windfarms and power from third party windfarms contracted to Energia under power purchase agreements, currently supplies over 600 megawatts (MW) of green power. This portfolio will be increased by a further 300MW of

‘green’ power by a number of wind farm facilities that are currently in development.
