DON’T be surprised if you see a group of Northside students heading to the O2 this week with a load of
‘Junk’.
On May 2, the Malahide Community School students will go where the likes of Beyonce and One Direction have gone before by taking to Ireland’s most prestigious stage as part of a prestigious competition.
They will be showcasing their couture trash creation at the Junk Kouture Grand Final 2014 proudly supported by Bank of Ireland and the European Recycling Platform (ERP).
The event, which was due to be held at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, sold out in a record five hours at the beginning of April leaving thousands of students, parents and teachers disappointed.
The change of venue ensured that 2,000 additional tickets would be made available through Ticketmaster. The tickets went on sale last Wednesday (April 23).
Organiser and founder of the event, Elizabeth Curran, said:
“We were absolutely delighted when the Grand Final sold out in five hours and astounded that there was still such a huge demand for tickets.
“This is obviously down to the increased participation this year and popularity of the event. We are truly delighted that we will now be showcasing the finest young Irish designers in Ireland’s biggest venue, all of which has been made possible by the support or our sponsor Bank of Ireland.

All details for the Junk Kouture Grand Final apart from the location will remain the same. Promoters are urging people to purchase tickets as soon as they become available, as no more tickets will be released.
All tickets that have been purchased for the previous venue will still be valid for the event.
The creative designs that hope to impress the Junk judges include Under My Skin by Sinead Power, Orlaith Murrey and Shannon Wolfe Robinson; Lost in Translation by Femi Akinrinde and Tara Collins; Le Mode Monde by Robyn Gilson, Brandon Dooley and Emma Lynch; and Wax Lyrical by Siofra Boyne, Grace Cosgrove and Ciara Higgins. All teams were expertly guided by teacher Johanna Smyth and Lynn Cullen.
