Father Ted party has mass appeal

THE ever-popular Father Ted series will never die – especially on the Northside.

On Good Friday, locals in Clongriffin held their third annual Father Ted Party and once again it proved to be a big success.

The event started three years ago with the idea of having a Father Ted Fancy Dress Party on the one night that the pubs are closed. However, their popularity soon spiralled out of control with one prop being made after the other for a Father Ted-themed house, and a number of classic scenes recreated (see photos).

The organisers have held three of the parties in total, had Lovely Girl Contests, King of the Sheep Competitions, and even rattled together a few quid for charity.

Bernie Tansey, one of the organisers, told Northside People:

“We’re glad to say that the parties have brought us closer to our neighbours who were relative strangers all those years ago.

“We’re delighted to have held the parties and to have celebrated such a wonderful series which is so ingrained into Irish society.
