A NORTHIDE club will attempt to break a GAA World Record next month by holding the largest Gaelic football training session. Dublin football star Jack McCaffrey – aka Brian Ború – will lead the charge by CLG Chluain Tarbh in an attempt to set a new world record.

The attempt on Monday, May 5, which takes place at Áras Chluain Tarbh on Seafield Road, is timed to start at 10 minutes and 14 seconds after 4pm.

It forms part of the Battle of Clontarf Brian Ború millennium celebrations with RTÃ? sports presenter Damien O’Meara, host of 2FM’s

‘Game On’, performing the master of ceremonies role.

Clontarf GAA Club has evolved into one of the biggest clubs in Dublin, with the Saturday morning nursery at St Paul’s College catering for in excess of 400 boys and girls each week from the ages of four to eight.

The club has produced inter-county players at minor, Under 21 and senior level for Dublin including current female county players Sara Fagan and Caoimhe O’Connor (Under 14), Katie Murray (minor) and Sarah McCaffrey and Margaret Mohan (senior), county male stars Andrew Foley, Stephen Russell and Declan Monaghan (Minor) and last year’s Young Footballer of the Year, Jack McCaffrey (senior).

Clontarf has a very strong juvenile section, highlighted by the club’s victory in the Dublin Under 15

‘A’ football championship in 2013.

The club is aiming to set a new world record for inclusion in the Guinness Book of Records.

The event is open to everyone, you don’t need to be a member of the club and you don’t need to have any experience.

The club would especially welcome members from other Dublin GAA clubs and anyone from the Dublin area who would like to be involved in a world record attempt on May 5.
