New county manager ready for challenge

Paul Reid, incoming Fingal County Manager.

THE new manager of Fingal County Council is expected to take up his new position on March 31.

Since 2011, Paul Reid, who will succeed David O’Connor who has retired, has held the position as Chief Operations Officer at the Department of Public Expenditure & Reform. He also previously held senior positions at Eircom and Trócaire.

Mr Reid said he was excited and privileged after being recommended for the position.

“Fingal comes with a strong reputation in Local Government for being a very progressive county in terms of attracting investment and strengthening social inclusion,

? he said.

“I look forward to continuing this progress, working with the mayor (Cllr Kieran Dennison), elected councillors, Fingal management and staff, Government, trade unions and local communities.

“We have a real opportunity in the next phase to strengthen and integrate the delivery of services at a local level for a better experience and outcomes for the citizens of Fingal.

Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Kieran Dennison said he was looking forward to working with Paul over the coming months.

“Having lived and worked in Fingal for many years he knows the county well, and as someone who comes from outside the local Government sector I am sure he will bring a new perspective to the work we do,

? he stated.

“I know he is looking forward to the challenges ahead as the council takes on more responsibility for economic development and job creation.

Cllr Dennison added:

“With the advent of the Local Property Tax there is an expectation from the public and our commercial rate payers that we will continue to innovate and deliver value for money for the services we provide for all our citizens.
