Local couple's big day dream

AN ENGAGED couple from Castleknock are hoping Northsiders will get behind them and help them win the wedding of their dreams.

Community volunteers Chris Ledwidge and Sharon Casey have been shortlisted to win the e30,000 dream wedding in a competition run by Ireland’s newest wedding magazine, Bash.

To win the wedding the couple need to top a poll of online votes and they’re appealing for romantics in Dublin 15 to help.

Sharon and Chris are one of four shortlisted couples in with a chance of winning. The couple impressed judges with a 60-second musical video entry to the competition.

The roped in a few pals to help them with the video and rigged up a bandstand in Phoenix Park with homemade crafts and props. They then recorded a duet of

‘Anyone Else But You’ from the 2007 film, Juno.

Chris, a teacher at Castleknock School of Music, and sales manager Sharon are active members of the local community.

Both volunteer at community radio station Phoenix FM where they’ve been involved in presenting programmes including Saturday afternoon shows, In Context and Artistic Licence.

Keen animal lovers, Sharon and Chris can also often be found at Ashtown Dog Pound where they help walk dogs that are waiting to be re-homed.

The couple have even managed to re-home some rescued animals themselves, including two dogs, a kitten and more than 15 rabbits.

Having been together for ten years, the couple got engaged last August when Chris surprised Sharon by serenading her in St Stephen’s Green Park before getting down on one knee and proposing.

The prize for the Bash competition includes everything needed for a dream wedding including venue, food, photography, video, flowers and lots more.
