A NORTHSIDE woman has been awarded a grant of more than
?¬200,000 for research she is undertaking in the area of oesophageal cancer.
Drumcondra native, Dr Maria Morrissey, was awarded the grant at the Irish Cancer Society Research Awards ceremony for her new research being carried out at Trinity and St James’s Hospital.
Dr Maria Morrissey said she was delighted to have been awarded the grant from the Irish Cancer Society.
“I look forward to developing my work and hope that it will go towards helping those affected by cancer in the future,
? she stated.
A total of six Irish Cancer Society Research Scholars, three research fellows and three research scholars were announced at the ceremony which will ensure new research projects in a range of cancers.
Professor John Fitzpatrick, Head of Research at the Irish Cancer Society, said:
