Kilmacud ladies star in RTE show

A SOUTHSIDE ladies Gaelic Football Team has become the star of a new health show on RTE.

The Kilmacud Crokes Mothers and Others in Stillorgan featured on a recent episode of Doctors On Call, the exciting brand new six part series on RTÃ? One.

The programme followed the team, which is made up of mothers ranging from 40-50 years of age, as they met for their weekly hour-long training session.

Each Wednesday the ladies get together to play on a non-competitive basis while taking on other teams in the same bracket.

The ladies were praised for their efforts to keep fit by the show’s team of doctors and professionals who aim to present the ultimate guide to health and wellness for viewers.

Presenter Gavin Jennings anchors the new show that asks the questions that matter, on topics as diverse as the rise in the number of gonorrhea cases to the fact that over 10,000 people in Ireland are admitted to hospital with stroke each year.

Doctors on Call goes out every Wednesday night on RTÃ? One at 8.30pm.

Meanwhile, architect Dermot Bannon is back with a new series of Ireland’s favourite home improvement show, Room To Improve.

A recent episode of this ever popular show saw Senator Katherine Zappone and Dr Ann Louise Gilligan share a former hunting lodge, built in the early 20th century in Brittas, West County Dublin.

However, they have fallen out of love with the wooden house they refer to as

‘the shanty’.

Bannon’s challenge was to rehabilitate the dilapidated lodge and link it to an adjacent mews building.

But with a limited budget – nowhere near enough to complete the plan Dermot initially devises – and two famously single-minded clients to deal with, the battle lines were drawn and the fun began.

Room to Improve goes out on Sundays at 9.30pm on RTE One.

Another RTE highlight is Division, a brand new studio quiz show presented by Ireland’s favourite newsreader, Anne Doyle.

Division sees 32 strangers on a journey of survival where honesty and bravery are vital, but over confidence can wipe out every one of your teammates in an instant.

All recent episodes of these shows are available on the RTE Player online.
