A NORTHSIDE duo have been making waves in the Irish music scene following the release of their debut album.
‘Analogue Wave’ released the enigmatically entitled album,
‘n.l.g.W.v’, earlier this month and have already been receiving rave reviews for their genre-bending sound mixing rock and electronica.
Featuring Del Chaney (39) from Lusk and Andy Sneyd (36) from Swords, the duo blend their favourite bits from dub, rock and techno to form their rich sonic tapestry.
They launched their album with an impressive live show at Twisted Pepper earlier this month featuring impressive, trippy and sometimes disturbing visuals.
Del and Andrew have both been involved in the music scene with previous bands and it shows from the polished sound of their debut.
Del said:
“We met whilst playing in a previous band and since that was going nowhere we decided to start working on something together and really take it seriously.
?
Their unique sound is no doubt inspired by their vast influences and reviewers have mentioned them in the same breath as Massive Attack, Nine Inch Nails, Killing Joke and Lee Perry.
I’m into everything really,
? Del added.
“Blues, dub reggae, rock and roll, punk and everything electronic from down tempo to techno.
?
Andy said he was into Manchester bands, electronic music and
“anything that moves you or makes you want to move
?.
The duo are starting to get noticed, not just in Ireland, but also around the world.
“It’s been fairly crazy to be honest,
? Del reflected.
“The album came out in September and has received national and international airplay with 2FM, 98FM, and the BBC playing different tracks from it.
“It’s also getting airplay in Australia and USA. Dan Hegarty from ‘The Alternative Show’ on 2FM had it as his album of the week on its release date and we’ve received good reviews in the Irish Times and the Irish Daily Star.
“We’ve also just been flagged by the Guardian UK’s music section as ones to watch for 2014. This year has been immense for us.
?
Andy said the reaction has been great so far.
“A lot of people we really respect have been into it,
? he said.
“It’s great when someone you may have never met says or writes something about it that is exactly what you were trying to say.
?
Analogue Wave had their album launch in Twisted Pepper on October 5 and are organising another gig for December. They plan to start serious touring next year and see where that takes them.
Andy said:
“We’re really hoping to play lots of festivals next year and hopefully get our sound to an audience that doesn’t really know us. We want people to come to the shows to feel like they’ve witnessed something special, that’s why we put as much into the live visuals as we do the music.
?
Del added:
“We lean heavily on live visuals for all of our shows. We’re constantly online looking for a weird visual or a copyright free American
’60s documentary that we can cut up and sample.
?
The pair have already started work on their second album and recently went back into the studio for pre-production.
In the meantime, their debut album is available to download from all major online stores from iTunes to Amazon Mp3 and from www.analoguewave.bandcamp.com.
