CLAUDINE Keane joined the kids of Warrenmount Primary School in the Liberties recently to launch this year’s Cheerios Breakfast Together Week.
The wife of Republic of Ireland captain, Robbie Keane, was helping to announce details of the event that is running from October 7 – 13.
This year’s fun begins in the Dundrum Town Centre where every child who makes a donation to the Cheerios wishing well will receive a special wish certificate.
On Monday, October 7 Today FM’s Ian Dempsey will broadcast his award winning breakfast radio show from the Fire Restaurant at the Mansion House on Dawson Street.
Everyone is invited to join Ian for breakfast and make a donation to Childline.
Last year, The Coronas, model Holly Carpenter and her boyfriend, Ireland and Leinster rugby player Cian Healy, stopped in to lend their support.
And this time around, Alan Hughes and the Ireland AM team from TV3 will also be in Fire enjoying the atmosphere and talking to some well known faces that will be coming along on the day.
Over the past six years Cheerios Breakfast Together Week has become one of the biggest fundraisers for the charity.
Last year over e225,000 was raised for the Childline service which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Childline is the only 24-hour listening support service for children and young people in Ireland, Ashley Balbirnie, the CEO of the ISPCC pointed out.
“But 715 calls a day go unanswered,
? she said.
“And this to us in Childline is a terrible fact of life. Every cent raised through this fundraiser will help answer more calls.
?
Alison Healy from Nestle Cereals added:
“The work that Childline and its volunteers do on a daily basis is truly inspiring.
“Help us to help them answer every call by simply holding or attending a breakfast or text BREAKFAST to 50300 to donate e2 to Childline.
“We want everyone to be part of Ireland’s biggest breakfast event.
?
Claudine said that as a mum she knew that breakfast was the most important meal of the day.
“What better way to start a day by knowing that by hosting or attending a charity breakfast you are making a very real difference to the Childline service,
? she said.
The Cheerios Breakfast Together Week begins in Dundrum Town Centre on October 5/6 with the Cheerios wishing well.
A Cheerios Childline Breakfast Together Week goody bag valued at e15 will be sold by ISPCC volunteers for e2 to raise funds.
To be part of Ireland’s biggest breakfast event log onto www.childlinebreakfast.ie.
A registration pack comprising posters, moneybox and information on the event will be sent out to those wishing to host a breakfast and Cheerios portion packs will be delivered to each and every breakfast.
