Ceremony marks completion of new film school

A CEREMONY on the Kill Avenue campus of Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology’s (IADT) new National Film School recently marked the completion after 14 months of construction.

The Government funded and film industry sponsored project has been designed by ABK Architects to provide the most up to date facility for education in film and television production in Ireland.

Commenting on the handover of the e5.5 million building, the President of Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology, Dr Annie Doona said they were committed to providing the most advantageous education for students.

“The handing over of the National Film School facility further strengthens our mission to create industry ready students,

? she said.

“I would like to especially thank Leo Crehan, Collen Construction and his team in bringing this project to completion.

“This highly innovative facility will be a fundamental training ground and stepping stone for the next generation in the film, radio and television industry.

Leo Crehan, the Managing Director of Collen Construction added:

“We were delighted to be part of the completion of the construction of the National Film School. The three-storey building has been finished to a world class standard and has been ideally designed to cater for the next generation of students studying film media.

The 1,302sqm facility is located on the existing Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology (IADT) Kill Avenue campus.

It features two professional TV/film studios with HD, one of which has green-screen capabilities and two radio studios.

There will also be control rooms, lecture rooms, a newsroom, offices and ancillary spaces to support tv, film and radio broadcasting.
