Heather's back on her feet after life-changing exercise

A YOUNG Southside woman is leading a new life as a mother after discovering an exercise routine that saved her from having to undergo drastic surgery on her back.

Heather Byrne (26), from Cedarmount Road in Mount Merrion, went from being a very fit and active person to lying curled up in bed or collapsed in a heap due to excruciating pain.

She even found sitting at her desk at work almost unbearable and when she was diagnosed with scoliosis, a severe spinal deformity, her life spiralled out of control.

She was told that she would need a 12-hour operation to fuse her spine solid but that would mean it was unlikely she would ever have full flexibility in her back again.

She was contemplating what this would mean for her future when she discovered an exercise routine that dramatically changed her course of action.

She had stumbled across Scoliosis SOS and for the first time in a long time, she saw a glimmer of hope for the future.

Since it was established seven years ago by Erika Maude, who has Scoliosis herself, the clinic has brought relief to hundreds of sufferers.

Located in central London, it is the only clinic in the world to offer treatment following the ScolioGold method, which is a combination of internationally renowned non-surgical treatments, that have been practiced in Europe for several decades.

Heather decided that this treatment could not do any harm and if it worked it could change her life forever. She booked onto a four-week treatment course and was overwhelmed by the results she achieved.

Within weeks Heather’s condition dramatically improved. She was no longer lying awake at night with pain and her confidence soared.

Heather felt a massive sense of relief that she would no longer require major surgery, as she knew that the recovery would have been long and painful.

She also knew that if she had chosen to have the operation then she would have had to put off having a family.

Following the programme Heather felt back in control of her life and wasted no time trying for a baby. She fell pregnant quickly and went through a successful pregnancy with no health problems.

She had built up the muscles surrounding her spine so they were able to support her properly throughout the nine months.

Henry is now 18-months old and Heather enjoys running around after him like any other young mother. The only difference is that things could have been very different for Heather if she had not found the exercise programme that helped get her life back on track.

“I am ecstatic to have found these exercises, no words can describe the relief I felt when my pain started to disappear,

? Heather recalled.

“I have always wanted children and the idea of having to put off my dreams and going through major surgery was terrifying. I feel so lucky to have found an answer to my problems.

“My pain has disappeared and I can run around after Henry as much as I like without even feeling uncomfortable. I felt confident and assured throughout my pregnancy that I was doing everything right and that nothing could hurt my baby.

She added:

“Henry is my world and I would recommend being a mother to anyone. Just don’t let anyone tell you that surgery is your only option as it rarely is and there are so many different choices out there.
