Green light for Primary Care Centre

FINGAL County Council has granted planning permission for the long awaited Corduff Primary Care Centre.

The HSE lodged a planning application for the health centre last April and locals hoped that it would bring an end to a saga that dates back three decades.

A health centre for the area was first promised over 30 years ago and residents were optimistic that it would be finally built when the HSE actively sought accommodation for use as a primary care centre in June 2008.

However, the project suffered numerous setbacks over the years. Local TD and Minister for Transport, Leo Varadkar, described the council’s decision as

“a breakthrough

?.

The HSE has been granted full planning permission and it’s hoped work will begin later this year, or early in 2014.

“When built, this will be a great asset for the community,

? said Minister Varadkar.

The new centre will include a child & adolescent mental health team, an early intervention team and dental and GP surgeries. The Corduff Primary Care team currently based in Hartstown will also be transferred to the new centre.

“Although we have had to wait a long time to get to this stage, the HSE has stated publicly that work will commence after planning permission is granted,

? said Minister Varadkar.

“I want to state again that we have got to this stage thanks to the campaigners who have worked tirelessly to get the centre started.

The centre will be based near Corduff Shopping Centre at Blackcourt Road, Corduff. Access will be from Blackcourt Road, with pedestrian access points from Corduff Avenue, Corduff Gardens, Corduff Way and Corduff Shopping Centre.

There will be car parking for 61 vehicles and 20 cycle spaces. The building will have two and three storey sections and will be more than 2,000 sq mts in size.

A number of conditions have been attached to the permission, including that work will be restricted to between 8am and 6pm on weekdays and between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, with no work on Sundays or bank holidays.
