THE Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company is at a very interesting and exciting stage in the implementation of their far-reaching Masterplan.
The
‘Urban Beach’ project, based on the famous Badeschiff facility on the River Spree in Berlin, is well underway and will be going for planning later this year.
This is a very innovative project, which should prove to be a great attraction for people to visit Dun Laoghaire.
The Harbour Company is also well underway with the Marina Village project in
‘The Gut’.
This will see the development of the old
‘Shell’ site, and will offer new and modern facilities to stakeholders in the west of the harbour.
The business plan for the centrepiece of the Masterplan, the Irish International Diaspora Centre, is also nearly complete and the Harbour Company will be going out to consultation with plans later this year.
They are also in discussions with stakeholders in relation to the idea of a new
‘Pontoon Park’ in the old harbour.
They are currently in the middle of a breakthrough year in attracting cruise ships into Dun Laoghaire, with 12 more cruise calls this summer following on from the high-profile arrival of the Queen Mary 2 on May 16.
