LOCAL couple Ciaran Kavanagh and bride-to-be Alfreda O’Brien are busy making some rather unusual wedding preparations.
Ciaran of famous Northside watering hole, John Kavanagh, The Gravediggers, and Alfreda are not just getting ready for the happiest day of their lives, they’re also planning to take part in a charity cycle on the morning of their wedding on June 14.
Dressed in full Bloomsday costumes, they’ll be joining over 100 cyclists to help raise awareness for the Irish Youth Foundation.
The charity offers support to children and families throughout Ireland by providing after-school clubs and holidays and teaching reading and writing skills.
The Irish Youth Foundation has been running its annual cycle for over 20 years and it takes place every Friday before Bloomsday. This year the Lord Mayor will set the Joycean cyclists on their way from the steps of the
Mansion House at 9.30am with a rendition of
‘Molly Malone’.
And this year will be extra special for Ciaran and Alfreda as they’ll be making their way back to City Hall after the cycle to tie the knot.
