A YOUNG Southside singer has been named as one of 15 top new emerging indie artists.
Acoustic sensation, Kal Lavelle from Rathfarnham, has been celebrating after being named as one of Perez Hilton’s top new independent artists.
Now, Kal is to be included on the US music mogul’s new compilation album and single launch.
Unsigned singer songwriter Kal is originally from Dublin but moved to London five years ago.
Even though she is virtually unknown in the US, she has been placed alongside some of most exciting new artists of our time.
Perez Hilton selected Kal’s song
‘The Ocean’ for inclusion on his ‘Pop Up #2’ compilation, alongside songs from Lianne La Havas, Paloma Faith, Tegan and Sara, and Bastille.
‘The Ocean’ will be the first single from Kal’s forthcoming EP.
Perez said: “I wanted to end Pop Up #2 on a sweet and romantic note, and this song is just so exquisite, hopeful and filled with love, all things I want to share with the listener.
“It’s also by a totally unknown artist. My hope for this compilation is that those who buy it enjoy the process of discovering new artists as much as I do and seek out more.”
