THE ISPCA has issued a last minute appeal for supporters to sign up for the Women’s Mini Marathon.

The charity estimates that over 200 animals in their care will benefit directly from the funds raised during this year’s event that is taking place in Dublin on the Bank Holiday weekend of June 3.

The ISPCA has already embarked on a campaign to encourage teams taking part in the marathon to consider running for them and help

‘Get Tails Wagging’.

“We know things are financially very difficult and we are very conscious of the efforts people go to in raising funds for the ISPCA,

? said Carmel Murray.

“We want to assure participants that every penny raised goes directly towards the care of an animal in our centres.

“In our National Animal Centre we have on average 150 animals in our care between horses, ponies, donkeys, dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, goats and other small mammals.

“But we are happy to say there will be a lot of tails wagging once the mini marathon is over.

The ISPCA is a charity organisation that relies on public support through donations to carry out the vital work it does in rescuing animals that have been abandoned, abused or neglected.

The charity has seen an unprecedented high level of animal cruelty cases, particularly in relation to dogs and this is stretching resources.

The ISPCA are under immense pressure to get to these animals, rehabilitate them and find suitable loving homes for them.

As an organisation almost entirely reliant on public donations, the ISPCA desperately need the support of the public and they are urging women to support their Get Tails Wagging campaign.

“Money raised will directly fund the ISPCA’s Dog Welfare Programme, which rescues neglected, abandoned and abused animals.

“With the closing date for registration approaching the ISPCA aims to recruit 500 women to participate in the Flora Women’s Mini-Marathon to raise much needed funds for the ISPCA.

If you are intending to register you can do so by logging on to http://www.florawomensminimarathon.ie

The ISPCA would ask all those who would like to run for the charity to register their sponsorship page on www.mycharity.ie and email minimarathon@ispca.ie or tel 0433325933 to pledge their support.
