Former first lady meets ex-employee at DCU

WORKMATES: Noel Rock with Hillary Clinton during her visit to DCU.

THERE was a reunion of sorts earlier this month at DCU when US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met up with former employee Noel Rock.

Mr Rock, a Fine Gael activist in Glasnevin, said he was delighted to hook-up with the former US first lady when she visited the Northside university.

“It was a great day for the university, a great day for the community and a great day for local people,

? he said.

“I was glad so many locals got to meet her, that she got to see where I came from and that DCU got such a coup in bringing her here, instead of UCD or Trinity College.

Noel worked for Hillary Clinton in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and has since helped a number of other local people get internships and work in Washington and Brussels.

He also recently established a Jobs Clinic “so that anybody, no matter their background, has a fair crack at the whip and full access to all sorts of jobs”.

Mr Rock plans to run for Fine Gael in Glasnevin in the 2014 local elections and says he received a ringing endorsement from his former employer.

“Hillary seemed to already know about my plans for the local elections and to represent this area as best as I can,

? he said.

Indeed, Hillary said that she hoped “the people of Glasnevin give him a chance” and described him as “a great worker” who “had lots to offer”.

Mr Rock presented Mrs Clinton with a Glasnevin Development Board certificate to honour her visit and, upon receiving the certificate, she promised she would return as soon as possible to the area.
